The organic wine Piqueras Wild Fermented Verdejo 2019 has won a gold medal at the Challenge Millésime Bio, the most important organic wine show in Europe, which will be held in Montpellier from January 27th to January 29th, 2020.
Piqueras Wild Fermented Verdejo, in its 2019 vintage, has obtained one of the 11 gold medals awarded to Spanish wines, of which only two are dedicated to white wines. The wine will be tasted ‘en primeur’ at this fair and will be launched in early February.
The requirement to compete in the select Challenge Millésime Bio is that the wines come from ecological crops. That is the case of Bodegas Piqueras, with our commitment to the native, natural and ecological, we get organic and ecological wines, made using organic and much cleaner farming techniques. Our winery has the certificate of organic wines, a characteristic highly valued by the European market and, increasingly, in Spain too.
Piqueras Wild Fermented Verdejo, winner of the gold, is made with organic Verdejo grapes from our cooler strains at altitude, carefully selected in night harvest. This wine has a complex and intense nose of exotic fruit, minerals and a subtle touch of wood. Oily and elegant on the palate with very good natural acidity, a balanced and persistent finish.
